Alumina Ceramic Foam Filter for Aluminum Casting

Alumina ceramic foam filter plates are used in the aluminum metallurgical industry and foundries to remove non-metallic inclusions and metal melt in the oxide film. Before use, it is important to preheat the filter and filter box. During the preheating process, care must be taken to control the heating rate and temperature distribution. This minimizes thermal shock and stress in the refractory materials of the filter and filter box.

During casting, due to the three-dimensional structure of the filter, the metal flow is effectively stabilized, making the mold smoother and more evenly filled. Therefore, the deoxidation of the metal in the mold and the erosion of the moldable mixture are significantly reduced. Filters can be used at various points in the casting system: in the horizontal or vertical direction, at the bottom of the gate, or profit. It is usually applied by placing an alumina ceramic foam filter in a filter box. The filter has excellent resistance to corrosion and corrosion of molten aluminum, can effectively remove inclusions, reduce residual gas and provide laminar flow, and then the filtered metal is significantly cleaner. Cleaner metals can produce higher-quality castings, fewer scraps, and fewer inclusion defects, all of which help increase profits.

Alumina ceramic foam filter use
1. Clean the filter box.
2. Gently put the filter into the filter box, and press the gasket around the filter to prevent the molten aluminum to flow from the side.
3. Even preheat the filter box and filter plates, closer to the temperature of molten aluminum casting.
4. Observe the aluminum liquid hydraulic head change, the normal initial pressure head is 75-150 mm. When the Alumina liquid began to pass, the pressure head will be reduced to 25 mm below,  then the pressure head will gradually increase.        
5. After filtration, timely remove the filter plate, and clean the filter box.
