Ceramic Foam Filter Molten Metal Filtration

Ceramic foam filter is the third generation of filter material after fiberglass mesh, honeycomb ceramic filter. With its three-dimensional structure, it has excellent filtering functions of screen, filtering, residuum collection, and adsorption in filtering molten metal liquid. It has good chemical stability and does not react with alloy liquid, effectively removing the inclusion in the metal liquid to improve the purity of molten metal. It can make casting surfaces smooth, increase strength, reduce the rejection rate, and reduce energy consumption, improve labor productivity, reduce costs.

The ceramic foam filter is not only
 applied for metal filtering in high temperatures but high-temperature gas treatment, carrier of catalyzers, solid heat exchangers, and special filling for the chemical industry. 


Ceramic Foam Filter Features:
1. Mechanical block: remove large non-metallic inclusions.
2. Filtering effect: filter small non-metallic inclusions.
3. Deep adherence: adhere little inclusions.
4. Reduce turbulence, provide laminar flow, and avoid whirlpools.
5. Trap gas that enters the mold cavity, relax impact, and decrease drop sand.
6. Effectively enhance qualification rate.
7. Improve the metallurgical structure of metal products
8. Enhance mechanical properties of metal products
9. Simplify gating system


SEFU ceramic foam filters are available in three materials:
silicon carbide ceramic foam filter, used for grey iron, ductile iron, copper, bronze, brass, and investment casting;
Alumina ceramic foam filter, used for aluminum and aluminum alloy casting;
Zirconia ceramic foam filter, used for carbon steel, and stainless steel casting.


Ceramic Foam Filter Size:
The size are available in square, round, and custom geometric shapes; sizes ranging from 10mm up to 500mm, and thicknesses from 10-50mm. The most common porosities are 10ppi,15 ppi, 20ppi, 30ppi,40ppi,50ppi. Higher porosities are available upon request. Custom-made cut-to-size filters are also possible.
